Pensions
Pensions are an important part of equitable distribution of marital property. Recently, in Pennsylvania, amendments to the Domestic Relations Code were passed effective in June of 2005 which changed the law of pensions as it relates to equitable distribution of marital property. Under the new amendments, the value of the marital portion of a defined benefit pension plan is no longer cut-off as of the day of separation.
