UNIFORM CHILD CUSTODY JURISDICTION AND ENFORCEMENT ACT (UCCJEA)
An Act adopted by a state which honors the custody jurisdiction of another stae and also enforces that other state's Custody Orders. Most states have a version of this Uniform Act. See Hague Convention and Parental Kidnapping Act.
UNIFORM TRANSFER (GIFT) TO MINOR'S ACT (UTMA; UGMA)
When parents contribute monies to an account for a child and the child's Social Security Number is used on the account. The money belongs to the minor and must be turned over to the child at the age of 18. Such account is taxed. See 529 College Plans.
