Custody and Partial Custody
During a divorce, custody is decided for the children in the marriage. One
or both parents may be awarded the right to have the child(ren) live with
one or both parents and to make decisions concerning them.
Parents can agree
to a parenting plan and make their agreement a Court Order. Parents who work
out a shared custody arrangement must live near each other. Sometimes, parents
will alternate vacating the marital home so that the children stay in the
home they have been accustomed to. Grandparents can seek custody of grandchildren in Pennsylvania. Other third parties may also seek custody.
